SA Power Networks is widely recognised as South Australia's electricity distributor, but our key role in building electricity distribution infrastructure to support the State's future growth is sometimes overlooked.
Today, more than ever, electricity is the life blood of our economy and community.
Whether it's an updated substation meeting growth in local demand in an established residential area or supplying our biggest mining projects, SA Power Networks plays an important role in supporting the achievement of our economic, community and social objectives.
Our primary focus is the maintenance, repair, upgrading and expansion of the regulated network that serves metropolitan and regional South Australia so well.
In early 2010, we undertook electrification of Adelaide's tram extension; we've also built supply for some of Adelaide's major road infrastructure projects including the new Northern Expressway; and we've constructed a new substation and high voltage distribution lines to support the desalination project.
We have recently completed work on the City West project, which has had a major impact on the security of supply for Adelaide's Central Business District (CBD) and the growing southern suburbs.
SA Power Networks also competes for work supporting some of our State's major projects. An example of a recent infrastructure project we won is the National Broadband Network roll-out in Willunga. See our Construction & Maintenance Services section for more information on this service.
