New meter installations

If you connect a new property, change your service (for example, install solar) or need to replace your meter, you will have to switch to a smart meter. You can organise this through your retailer.

Traditionally, we’ve been responsible for installing, maintaining and reading your electricity meter. Since 1 December 2017, your retailer is now responsible for installing all new and replacement electricity meters for residential and small business customers.

So long as your SA Power Networks meter remains, we will continue to look after it and take meter reads at your property or business.
