Subsidies available  for electric vehicles

The Government of South Australia has a range of incentives for prospective electric vehicle (EV) owners.

$3,000 subsidy on new battery electric vehicles

The Department of Treasury and Finance is providing 7,000 subsidies for electric vehicles valued below $68,750. These vehicles also qualify for a 3-year motor registration fee exemption.

Vehicles must have no previous registration, and not have received rebates in other states. One subsidy is available per individual, and two per business.

Depending on your lifestyle and priorities, you may save money if you switch to Time of Use tariff.  With a Time of Use electricity tariff:

  • EVs can be charged over night at the cheaper off-peak rate.
  • Solar sponge tariffs provide an additional super off-peak period in the middle of the day.

Not sure if Time of Use is right for you? The Australian Government's Energy Made Easy website lets you search and compare energy offers to find the best deal for you.
