The electricity bill from your retailer includes several charges from the different companies involved in getting power to your home or business. Here is a basic breakdown of the typical residential electricity bill in South Australia. You can also read more at SA Government website

SA Power Networks charges for the distribution of electricity. That is the cost of maintaining a network of substations, poles, and wires that provides the electricity service customers need.

For each customer connected to our network, we charge the retailer a network tariff. For residential and small business customers, retailers decide how they will pass that charge on to you. For large businesses, network tariffs will be passed on directly to the customer. You can read more detail by clicking on the relevant page below.

It is important to speak directly with your retailer, to understand how charges are being passed on to you, and whether you are on the right retail offer to suit your energy needs. The Australian Government's Energy Made Easy website lets you search and compare energy offers to find the best retail offer for residential and small business customers.
