Diversity Equity and Inclusion Plan

At SA Power Networks, we understand that strength lies in the diversity of our people and in our ability to foster an inclusive workplace where every individual feels valued, respected and supported to deliver their best. This commitment is fundamental to both our organisation’s success and our role in serving the diverse South Australian community.

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Plan 2026–2028 is a reflection of our vision: to connect South Australians to a better energy future, today. It maps out our commitments to creating a workplace where every employee feels safe, included, and empowered to contribute meaningfully. By doing so, we ensure that our workforce represents the diverse communities we serve and is equipped to rise to the challenges of a changing world.

The DEI Plan underpins our strategic goal of enabling an aligned, capable and connected workforce, focused on safely delivering the right outcomes for our customers. It was developed through extensive engagement with our people and the insights gained have shaped the themes and helped define the specific actions within this Plan.

Our Executive Leadership Team fully endorses the commitments outlined in the DEI Plan and will advocate for meaningful progress. Together, we are committed to building pride, wellbeing, and productivity across our organisation, so that we are better prepared to serve our customers and the communities where we work.

Why this matters

SA Power Networks is committed to providing a reliable, resilient and safe electricity network that proactively manages risks to our people, community and environment. Electricity networks used to be asset managers — focused on building and maintaining poles and wires to deliver power one way. Today, customers generate, store, and share power through rooftop solar, batteries, and electric vehicles. By actively managing two-way energy flows across the grid in real time, we will help deliver benefits to all customers, to the network, and to the broader market and contribute to Australia’s net zero targets.

We strive to contribute to an energy transition through trusted education, awareness and accessibility for our customers.

We are also driving our own change. For example, we’re looking at how we manage risk and safety, and how we value, prioritise and plan work – all of which are complex and require new ways of thinking and leading.

This work calls for people with diverse skills, experiences and backgrounds. As an organisation, it is our commitment to create an environment where our people feel included and empowered to contribute new ideas and help us, and each other, achieve our goals within a respectful and supportive culture.

A diverse, equitable and inclusive culture at SA Power Networks benefits everyone.
