Relocate our assets

Customers can request relocation or removal of SA Power Networks' assets through our online Portal. The amount payable by the customer for these works will be set out in an Asset Relocation Offer letter.

Typical projects include:

  • relocate an asset
  • remove an asset
  • rebuild overhead assets underground.

You can submit a request to relocate or remove SA Power Networks assets by submitting an application form on our Portal. SA Power Networks will investigate your request and provide you with an Asset Relocation Offer letter detailing the scope of works and customer charges.

After you have submitted an application, SA Power Networks will investigate the project, develop a scope of works, and estimate customer charges. Customer charges will be provided to you in an Asset Relocation Offer letter. An upfront fee for offer letter preparation may be applicable.

Below is a list of common scenarios:

  • Relocate a pit/pillar from a customer’s driveway.
  • Relocate a Stobie pole for a new driveway.
  • Remove overhead/underground mains from a customer’s property.
  • Remove overhead mains and rebuild them underground.
  • Alter existing overhead mains to achieve building clearances.

NICC-404-Working in the Vicinity of SA Power Networks Infrastructure provides information to customers and contractors working in the vicinity of SA Power Networks Infrastructure.

You are legally required to keep a safe clearance distance when working near powerlines. For more information, please refer to the Office of the Technical Regulator: Working safely near overhead powerlines.

You may have the opportunity to take responsibility of civil works. In some situations, the civil works component of the project may be removed from the Asset Relocation Offer letter, with SA Power Networks responsible for the design and electrical components only.

An accredited civil contractor must be engaged by the applicant, to undertake civil works in accordance with SA Power Networks’ standards & specifications.
