Notification of works
Henley Beach South - substation upgrade
March – November 2025
What we are doing
We are replacing ageing equipment in the Henley Beach South substation including the transformer, and switchgear in the control room. This essential work will ensure the continued reliability and security of electricity supply in the area.
How this affects you
We start work from Tuesday 1 April and expect to complete the project early November 2025, weather permitting.
Construction activities will generally be undertaken Monday to Friday between 7am and 5pm, however some weekend work may be required.
Night works will be required within the substation on Wednesday 2 April and Thursday 3 April for switching operations. These tasks are scheduled at night when electricity demand is low which is safer, and reduces the risk of power outages.
The majority of work will occur within the substation, however there may be occasional traffic disruptions while transporting large and heavy equipment. Traffic management may be in place in the vicinity of the works to ensure safety for community members and our work crews.
Power outages
We don’t expect any power interruptions during these works; however, we encourage anyone to use the National Meter Identifier (NMI) on their electricity bill, to sign up for updates via our website.
Please call us on 13 12 61 if you need help with this process.
Construction impacts
There may be noise, vibration and dust associated with these works. Our crews will minimise impacts as much as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation during this essential work.
