Undergrounding powerlines - Grange and Holbrooks Road

What we’re doing

The Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) is widening the Grange and Holbrooks Roads intersection. To support their work, we are undergrounding powerlines and relocating some Stobie poles.

How this affects you

Our civil contractor Equipped Civil will begin civil works on Tuesday 8 April to install footings for seven new Stobie poles. Civil works will occur overnight between Tuesday 8 April and Wednesday 23 April, excluding Sunday nights. The work will take place between 7pm and 5am each night.

The main work area is the Holbrooks Road – Grange Road – East Avenue intersection (up to Morrell Street).

Powerline work starts from Monday 5 May to install new underground cables and replace some overhead powerlines. We will remove redundant poles and poles from July, expecting to complete our work by Thursday 7 August 2025.

The Department of Infrastructure and Transport will contact any customer whose private consumer service will be altered as part of their project. DIT has engaged a licensed electrician to complete the work at no cost to customers affected.

To ensure everyone's safety, there will be traffic control in place with temporary speed limit reductions, detours, and potential lane closures. Our teams will work closely with those affected to minimise inconvenience.

Work hours and dates may vary due to weather conditions or unforeseen events outside our control.

Power outages

Some customers will experience multiple power outages during this period. We will contact those affected directly.

We normally send SMS/emails to subscribed customers affected by power outages two weeks in advance, at which time the outage map will also be published on our website. We post cards to non-subscribed customers however there may be delays with the postal service.

If you do not already receive free notifications about your power, you can sign up for updates via our website, or call us on 13 12 61 for assistance. You need the National Meter Identifier (NMI) from your electricity bill to subscribe.

Construction impacts

There will be noise, vibration and possibly dust associated with this work from excavation equipment, and other heavy machinery and vehicles. Our crews and contractors will minimise impacts as much as possible, however we apologise for any inconvenience.

The majority of work has been scheduled at night due to DIT restrictions for work affecting traffic on State managed roads.
