All minor connections services now available in the new Portal
SA Power Networks has reached an important milestone in the rollout of our new Portal, with Alterations now live.
This means all minor connections services are now available in one place, giving customers, electricians, retailers and meter providers a simpler way to submit, view, track and manage connection-related requests.
The new Portal is now the main online home for minor connections, bringing together services that were previously managed through separate forms, email channels and legacy systems.
A simpler way to manage connection requests
The Portal has been designed to make it easier to do business with SA Power Networks by giving users greater visibility and control over their requests.
Depending on the request type, users can:
- submit applications online
- view and track request progress
- receive clearer updates and notifications
- upload supporting information
- manage bookings where required
- share applications with customers, colleagues or other interested parties
- keep request information in one place
This provides a more consistent experience and reduces the need to follow up through separate channels to understand where a request is up to or what action may be needed.
Services now available
Minor connections covers a range of connection-related services. The new Portal now supports:
- new service provision
- alterations
- temporary disconnections and reconnections
- abolishments
- network access permits
- customer enquiries
Bringing these services together in the Portal means users can manage more of their work with SA Power Networks through one online platform.
Alterations now live
Alterations was the final minor connections service to be added to the new Portal.
This service supports requests where an existing electricity connection needs to be changed, such as upgrades, changes to supply arrangements or other work that affects an existing connection.
The process has also been simplified. Where a temporary disconnection and reconnection is needed as part of an alteration, it can now be included in the same alteration request, rather than being raised as a separate application.
With Alterations now available, users can manage these requests in the same place as other minor connections services. This creates a more consistent process and makes it easier to track progress from application through to completion.

The new Portal is now the home for minor connections
As part of this change, REX is being retired and minor connections services are now moving fully into the new Portal.
For customers and industry users, the new Portal provides a clearer and more consistent way to manage connection requests. It also supports better visibility between SA Power Networks teams, helping requests move through the process with less reliance on manual handovers, separate forms or email-based updates.
If you have previously used REX for minor connections requests, you should now use the new Portal for these services.
What’s next?
With all minor connections services now available in the Portal, we’ll continue to improve the experience based on feedback from customers, electricians, retailers, meter providers and our internal teams.
Our next major focus is negotiated connections, which covers more complex electricity connection requests, often involving commercial, industrial or developer-led projects. This work will build on the platform foundations already in place and help provide a more consistent and transparent experience for larger, more complex connection applications.
Feedback remains an important part of how the Portal continues to improve. If you use the Portal, we encourage you to keep sharing what is working well and where the experience could be clearer or easier to use.
