Update to the design specification process - Provision of DWG Files
To improve the design specification process, where available SA Power Networks will now provide the underlying DWG (CAD) files from previous design stages.
Previously, only PDF copies of previous stage designs were supplied. While these provided visibility of network layout and design intent, they often required significant effort to redraw and recreate information in CAD before design work could commence.
Why are we making this change?
We recognise that recreating existing infrastructure designs adds time and effort to the design process, particularly for staged developments. By providing DWG files, designers will be able to build upon existing designs owned by SA Power Networks, allowing more time to be spent on other design activities rather than redrafting already completed work.
Important Information
- DWG files will be provided as part of our design specification
- DWG files will only be provided where they are available and suitable for release
- The information contained within the DWG files is not new information; it is the same design information currently provided in PDF format, delivered in a more usable format
- Sharing of drawings remains restricted to accredited designers operating under SA Power Networks' existing terms and conditions
- Existing governance, confidentiality and usage requirements continue to apply
