$5,000 grants to 'strengthen community connections'
SA Power Networks is offering grants of up to $5000 for projects focused on one powerful theme: Connection.
The annual grants program will support eligible community groups with initiatives that spark social connection, encourage participation and strengthen belonging across South Australian communities.
The 2026 Community Grants Program will prioritise initiatives that bring people together and strengthen connections, complementing SA Power Networks’ vision to connect South Australians to a better energy future, today, said SA Power Networks’ CEO Andrew Bills.
“Our business spans across South Australia, and alongside connecting our state’s communities to electricity, we know that strong social connections are equally critical to wellbeing and community resilience.”
“Social isolation is a very real challenge for many South Australians - particularly in regional areas and among vulnerable groups. With a state-wide footprint, we can play a role in helping to break down these barriers.”
What we’re looking for in 2026
SA Power Networks is seeking applications that demonstrate a clear impact in increasing opportunities for people to connect in meaningful and practical ways.
Examples of initiatives could include:
- Improving community spaces – upgrades to playgrounds, community halls, sporting facilities or outdoor areas that encourage people to gather and spend time together.
- Delivering inclusive events – workshops, festivals or forums that bring communities together for meaningful engagement.
- Activating volunteers – initiatives that attract and support volunteers who assist older or isolated residents or deliver mentoring, transport or outreach services.
- Strengthening participation – programs for vulnerable youth, intergenerational learning, refugee connection, and peer support and wellbeing initiatives.
“Don't miss out on this opportunity to make a real difference in your community,” Andrew Bills said.
Key dates:
- Grants open: Monday, 11 May 2026
- Grants close: Monday, 15 June 2026
About the program
SA Power Networks launched the Community Grants program in 2022 to empower communities to make a real difference in their local areas.
Since then, more than half a million dollars in grant funding has gone back to communities. This includes sharing a total of $132,000 across 30 projects and organisations in 2025 (you can see a list of previously successful recipients on SA Power Networks’ website).
