Adelaide Road Mount Barker roundabout upgrade

To support the Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) roundabout upgrade project (intersection of Adelaide, Wellington, Flaxley, and Alexandrina Roads), we are removing or relocating several Stobie poles and associated equipment along Adelaide, Wellington, Flaxley and Alexandrina Roads, and constructing new underground services. See the DIT website for more information.

We expect our part of this project will run from 29 September 2025 to 31 May 2026 (with a break over Christmas from 18 December to 6 January), weather permitting.

We know this is a busy intersection, including pedestrians around Mount Barker High School and Keith Stephenson Park. Where practical, we will schedule work at night or during school holidays to minimise disruption, and to keep the car park open to Keith Stephenson Park, however some work will occur during the day.

Our site office will be on Flaxley Road near the May Road intersection, which includes equipment storage and amenities. We will limit the number of our vehicles needing to access this site to minimise local traffic impacts as much as possible, however there will be increased heavy vehicle traffic at times.

Our work from 30 September on Flaxley Road (within the council reserve) will involve very noisy equipment so we will have five days of day work (8am to 3pm) to identify underground services. We will have five nights of work mid-October around the car park at Keith Stephenson Park.

Some of our work will involve directional boring under the roundabout, and under the reserve along and across Adelaide Road (avoiding significant trees and roots) to minimise impacts on traffic, however there will be traffic safety management on site whenever crews are working close to the roads. Please plan around short delays.

We will also have some minor works on Dumas Street to improve network capacity.

We know Keith Stephenson Park is a valued community amenity and will ensure the site is restored to its current condition on completion of our work. Roads and road reserves may have temporary reinstatement as our works progress, and will be fully reinstated once all work has been completed.

Power outages

Some customers may have power outages; we will let those affected know, typically providing two weeks advance notice. We encourage anyone not already subscribed to sign up for updates using the National Meter Identifier (NMI) from their electricity bill which is helpful to get updates related to planned and unplanned power outages, as well as other disruptions such as night works or noise.

Thank you

The safety of crews, contractors and the community is our top priority. We appreciate the patience and cooperation of locals and visitors in supporting us to complete this important work.
