Extreme weather - power restoration ongoing
Wild weather has swept across South Australia today causing power outages.
Update 4pm
Approximately 9,500 South Australian customers remain without power as a result of a today's weather conditions.
Between 9am and 4pm, there was a cumulative total of 28,565 customers impacted.
South Australia has experienced wind gusts of up to 120km/h. An extended dry period, coupled with heavy rains and strong winds, has resulted in trees being uprooted and dropping limbs, causing damage to the electricity network, including an estimated 166 downed wires.
All available SA Power Networks crews have been working to restore power. Our crews have made good progress, in challenging conditions, and will be working into the evening to safely restore power as quickly as possible. Some outages may extend into Tuesday.
