Portal update: new features live, more on the way - all with flexibility and customer experience in mind

Customer portal updtae web news hero

We're continuing to expand our customer portal to support a more flexible, transparent, and customer-first way of managing electrical connections and related services.

Since going live with the first service in late 2023, we’ve been steadily adding functionality, simplifying processes, and responding quickly to feedback – all with the goal of making it easier for customers and industry stakeholders to work with us.

Network Access Permits now live

In March, we launched Network Access Permits (NAP) in the portal – a major milestone in moving critical services online. NAPs help ensure the safety of those working near our infrastructure by formalising safe access to the network. Early feedback has been very positive, with users calling out the ease of use and visibility over job status.

We’ve also responded to a common request: the ability to print permit applications. While the portal doesn’t currently have a native print function, we created a simple quick reference guide showing how to save and print your submission as a PDF using your browser – a solution that’s already working well for many users.

New services on the way

The next services to be added are already well underway.

Customer enquiry form

A new customer enquiry form has been developed and is now undergoing internal user acceptance testing. We expect this to go live in the coming weeks. This new form will provide a consistent, trackable way for customers to raise questions, report issues, or request support, all from within the portal.

Tiger Tail support

Also coming soon is support for Tiger Tails – black and yellow striped temporary line covers commonly used to improve the visibility of low-voltage overhead lines during nearby works. Development is nearly complete, and internal testing will begin shortly, with a launch expected within the next month.

Improving how we present information

Alongside building new functionality, we’re also working on making our website easier to navigate. A good example is the recent refresh of the Permanent Disconnections (Abolishments) page, which now offers clearer guidance on when a disconnection is needed, what’s required, and how to get started.

This is just the beginning. As each service is added to the portal, we’ll update the relevant pages on our website in parallel, making sure customers can understand and access what they need with less effort and fewer delays.

What’s next?

The portal will continue to expand throughout 2025, with more connection-related services being digitised and streamlined. We’re taking a flexible, staged approach, launching early, learning quickly, and adjusting based on real-world use. Your feedback is central to this process, and we’re committed to keeping you informed and involved as we go.

Stay tuned for more updates as we release new features, improve existing ones, and make it easier than ever to do business with SA Power Networks.
