Reminder to Industry: Changes to EG Like-for-Like Replacements from 1 July 2026
From 1st July, SA Power Networks will update the Portal to ensure embedded generation replacement systems are processed in line with the applicable technical and regulatory requirements.
Reminder that like-for-like warranty replacements are defined in the Technical Standard 129 (TS129), Section 4.3.4.
What’s Changing?
The Portal will only allow true like-for-like replacements in accordance with the technical standard.
To qualify for a like-for-like replacement, inverters need to be the exact same manufacturer and model. All other replacements are classified as an upgrade and need to comply with
- Relevant Agent/ Dynamic Export requirements
- Updated export plans
- And Technical Standard requirements
What remains exempt from an upgrade?
- Adding a battery
- Adjusting the panels on existing inverters
- True like-for-like warranty inverter replacement
Flexible Exports Reminder
Flexible Exports is available state-wide and is the preferred customer offer option. When upgrading or installing battery and solar equipment, please make sure your customer is aware of the benefits of choosing the Flexible Exports plan. Installers can check export performance in their customer’s area using the Flexible Exports Performance checker webpage.
