Mandatory proof of address requirement for new connections
From 1 September, proof of address documentation will be mandatory when submitting a New Service Provision request through the portal.
When raising a new service provision request, electricians are currently asked to provide documentation confirming the site address. However, because this is not a mandatory field, the required documentation is not always provided or may not clearly confirm the address.
Where suitable proof of address is missing, our teams must manually review the application or contact the electrician for further information. This delays the individual request and reduces the time available to process other applications.
To help applications move through the process more efficiently, from 1 September, proof of address documentation will be mandatory when submitting a New Service Provision request through the portal.
At least one of the following documents will be required:
- Council-approved plans showing the site address or lot number (required for new single allotments, subdivided allotments and large multi-site developments)
- Rates notice
- Surveyor's plan
- Certificate of Title
