Underground cable replacement along Morphett Street to Whitmore Square
What we are doing
We’re replacing ageing high-voltage underground cable along Morphett Street south of Grote Street to the Whitmore Square substation to maintain power reliability.
How this affects you
Our powerline crews will replace the high-voltage underground cable along Morphett Street between Whitmore Square and Grote Street between Sunday 15 March and Wednesday 1 April 2026, working between 8pm and 5am each night.
Our civil contractor Noone Nominees will be onsite throughout these works to support our powerline crews by safely removing water from underground locations and confined spaces. They will be using ‘vacuum excavation’ methods which is less disruptive to underground services, however may be very noisy at times.
Our crews and contractors will minimise disruptions as much as possible.
Traffic management
Traffic management will be in place while our crews are working. Temporary speed limits, lane closures, partial road closures, and possible detours will be in place for the safety of workers, road users and pedestrians.
If access to the Bohem Apartment underground carpark is temporarily blocked when you need to enter or exit the building, please ask a member of our traffic safety team to assist you.
