Powerline upgrades in Blakeview, Craigmore and Uleybury

Wednesday 14 January 2026

What we are doing

The 'Uley Road' high voltage powerline supplies power to communities in Elizabeth Downs, Craigmore, Uleybury, One Tree Hill and Yattalunga from the Elizabeth Downs substation. A secondary supply line also provides power to customers in Blakeview.

We’re replacing around four kilometres of this ageing powerline and related equipment, including 25 Stobie poles, to maintain power reliability and to ensure we can meet increasing local electricity demand. The new powerline will be more resistant to corrosion.

Our work is along Craigmore Road, Viney Drive and then across private property to the east. The new poles will be replaced in the same, or similar location, to the existing poles.

How this affects you

Our contractor Equipped Civil will install new pole footings. Our powerline crews will install the new Stobie poles, replace our overhead powerlines, and remove the old poles on completion.

Some preliminary works impacted the Blakeview area in December. The current stage of works start in January 2026 and we expect to be completed by June 2026. The work will be completed as day work Mondays to Fridays between 8am and 4pm, with the possibility of some weekend works.

Due to the nature of the terrain on unsealed roads, we aim to complete the work before heavier rains in winter.

Traffic management

Traffic management will be in place while our crews are working in public areas. Temporary speed limits, lane closures, partial road closures, and possible detours will be in place for the safety of workers, road users and pedestrians. We will minimise disruption as much as possible and appreciate the patience and support of our local community and visitors affected by this work.

Power outages

Some customers may be affected by power outages scheduled between January and March. We will notify customers in advance of any power outages that will affect them, typically with two weeks' notice for customers subscribed to our free SMS/ email notification service, however we will aim for more notice.

We will mail cards to customers not registered for the SMS/ email service, however there may be delays in customers receiving the post.

We encourage anyone not already subscribed, to sign up for updates using the National Meter Identifier (NMI) found on your electricity bill. You're welcome to call us on 13 12 61 for help if you need it.

Subscribing is a helpful way to receive updates related to planned and unplanned power outages, as well as other disruptions such as night works or noise.
