Notification of Works
Elizabeth South - New 66,000 volt (66kV) overhead network
What we’re doing
We are installing a new 66,000 volt (66kV) powerline from our Elizabeth South substation to meet increasing electricity demand. The new overhead network will be installed along Trimmer Road, Hogarth Road, Goodman Road, and Willison Road.
How this affects you
Our civil contractor Equipped Civil completed the initial phase of civil works in March and April 2025 including the new Stobie pole footings which were fenced for safety. Construction of the new overhead network will start Monday 18 August including installing the new powerline and 10 new Stobie poles. Most of the work will be done between 8am and 4pm, however some work around Philip Highway will be conducted overnight to minimise disruption to traffic. We expect the work to be completed by the end of November this year including removing some redundant Stobie poles and overhead powerlines in the area.
Traffic safety control will be in place with temporary speed limit reductions, lane closures, partial road closures and detours. Our teams will work closely with those affected to minimise inconvenience. We will also let you know when we need your help to keep the roadside clear of vehicles, so we have clear access for our work, and to avoid potential damage to your vehicles. We will use road plates so residents can continue to access their driveways. Please speak with a member of our onsite team if you have any concerns with access.
Work hours and dates may vary due to weather conditions or unforeseen events outside of our control.
Power outages
Customers will not experience any power outages due to this work. In the unlikely event of this changing, we will contact you directly. We generally provide two weeks' notice for planned power outages via SMS/emails to subscribed customers. We post a card to customers without a subscription, however there may be slight delays in the postal service.
If you do not already receive free SMS/email updates about your power, you can sign up for updates via our website, or call us on 13 12 61 for assistance. You need the National Meter Identifier (NMI) from your electricity bill to subscribe.
Construction impacts
There will be typical construction noise, vibration, flashing lights and dust which our crews and contractors will minimise as much as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience or disruption throughout our work and thank the local community for their support, patience and respect for workers.
