Notification of works

Evanston Substation

Thursday 9 April 2026

What we’re doing

We’re replacing equipment at our Evanston substation to ensure continued power reliability.

Most of this work will take place within the substation at 34 Hillier Road, with some works occurring outside the substation.

How this affects you

Our work is scheduled to start on Tuesday 14 April and we expect all work will be completed by late November.

Work won’t occur every day during this period. Please note that work dates and hours may vary due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances beyond our control.

Our work is currently planned for:

  • Tuesday 14 April: To remove overhead high voltage powerlines across Hillier Road.
  • Monday 20 April to Thursday 30 April: To remove old and unused equipment within the substation and surrounds.
  • Monday 11 May until the end of June: Civil works will start at the substation site to install new pole footings. We will also be trenching across Hillier Road to install conduits for new high voltage cables.
  • Monday 20 July until the end of November: Install a new transportable building inside the substation to house updated equipment, replacing older equipment to improve reliability.

Most of our civil and powerline work will be completed between Monday to Friday from 7am to 4pm, with the possibility of some weekend work.

Traffic management

Traffic management will be in place while our crews and contractors are working with temporary speed limits, and signposted partial road closures, or detours for the safety of workers, road users and pedestrians. If you need assistance, please ask our traffic safety team.

We don't expect any impact to off-street parking or driveway access. We will contact affected residents directly if this changes.

We will work to minimise disruption as much as possible and appreciate the understanding of those affected by this work.
