Notification of works

211 Esplanade Road, Henley Beach

31 October – 3 November 2023

What we're doing

We're replacing a transformer at 211 Esplanade, Henley Beach impacted by coastal corrosion, to minimise the risk of power outages. The work includes civil excavation, and installation of backup generators to keep the power on during our work.

How this affects you

31 October
Civil excavation is scheduled for 31 October, between 8am and 3pm. The works is in front of the transformer opposite 211 Esplanade alongside the beach access. There will be pedestrian restrictions in the area for safety. Access to Joe’s Henley Beach café will still be available from the northern side.

We will be interrupting power to some customers in this area for less than three hours at some time between 9pm and 5am. We're unable to be more specific on the start time as crews need flexibility for safety reasons. Those who will be affected by the outage were notified last week. Crews will be installing generators to keep the power on Wednesday and Thursday while our work continues. They will also install temporary safety fencing and while there will be soundproofing to reduce noise, we apologise there will still be some noise disruption.

1 November
Civil work between 8am and 3pm will take place around the base of the transformer.

2 November
Night work is scheduled between 9pm and 5am with a power outage of less than three hours to install and connect the new transformer and disconnect the generators. Again, those affected have already been notified.

3 November
Work will be completed with the removal of generators, temporary fencing, and soundproofing from the site.

Work hours may vary slightly due to weather or other events outside of our control. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained to the beach in case of any emergency.

Generator Locations

A generator will be placed on the footpath at 223 Esplanade and a second generator will be located in the median strip at 243A Esplanade.

Parking Spaces

5-6 parking spaces opposite 223 Esplanade will be temporarily closed from 9pm Tuesday 31 October until midday Friday 3 November to enable safe traffic near the generator.

Traffic safety officers will be on site when our crews are working.

Noise

There will be noise, dust and vibration associated with our work from excavation equipment, other vehicles and generators.
Our crews will reduce any disruption as much as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation during this essential work.
