Notification of works
Relocation of powerlines in Keswick
Monday 23 March 2026
What we are doing
We’re carrying out work in Keswick from late March to the end of July 2026 to support the River Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Project for the Department of Infrastructure and Transport (DIT). The T2D project will create 78km of non-stop, traffic light-free motorway between Gawler and Old Noarlunga.
How this affects you
We will be relocating some of our existing 66,000 volt powerlines along Richmond Road, adjacent Croydon and Marlow Road to allow for road widening and a new lane to improve traffic flow.
Our civil contractors will be commencing works along Richmond Road from Thursday 26 March to identify underground utility service locations and install new pole footings. They will also be trenching along Marlow Road to support the installation of underground electrical equipment. They will be using ‘vacuum excavation’ methods which are less disruptive to underground services, however may be very noisy at times.
Due to the limited working space in this area, we may occasionally require access to private properties to carry out our work. Customers affected have already been directly contacted and we will be working closely with them, as well as others impacted by this project. We have consulted with the council to temporarily close a portion of Marlow Road for up to four weeks while we complete our work in the middle of the road.
Traffic management
Traffic management will be in place while our crews and contractors are working with temporary speed limits, and signposted partial road closures, or detours for the safety of workers, road users and pedestrians. If you need assistance, please ask our traffic safety team.
Work zones and traffic impacts
Day (8am to 4pm) and night (7pm to 6am).
The following traffic arrangements will be in place during the day and night, from late March to the end of July 2026.
- Road closure towards the end of Marlow Road heading onto Richmond Road
- No right-turn from Richmond onto Marlow Road
- Turning from Hampton Road onto Marlow Road will still be permitted
- Changed traffic arrangements on Richmond Road and Marlow Road
- Lower speed limits near the works site.
We will work to minimise disruption as much as possible and appreciate the understanding of those affected by this work.
