Powerline upgrades in Netley

Friday 5 December 2025

What we are doing

We’re replacing 1.7kms of high voltage powerlines in Netley to maintain power reliability and ensure we can meet increasing local electricity demand. We will also replace 14 Stobie poles along Marion Road, Harvey Avenue, Beare Avenue and Transport Avenue, Netley. The new poles will be replaced in a similar or the same location to the existing poles.

How this affects you

Our contractor Tron Civil Contracting will be working along Marion Road, Harvey Avenue, Beare Avenue and Transport Avenue between Monday 8 December and Friday 19 December 2025 to install new pole footings and to identify underground utility service locations. The work will be completed between 8am and 3pm.

They will be using ‘vacuum excavation’ methods which is less disruptive to underground services, however is very noisy. We apologise in advance to those who live nearby and may experience some disruption.

There will be no power outages during this part of our work.

Our powerline crews will install the new poles between Monday 19 January and Thursday 22 January 2026. The work will be completed at night between 8pm and 5am. Tron Civil Contracting will be assisting our powerline crews during our night work and will be using ‘vacuum excavation’ methods. There will be floodlights and flashing safety lights, however we will minimise noise from heavy vehicles as much as possible. We apologise in advance to those that will be affected.

Our work is planned at the following locations:

  • Monday 19 January: 350 - 330B Marion Road, Netley
  • Tuesday 20 January: 101 Beare Avenue, Netley and 1A Morley Street, West Richmond
  • Wednesday 21 January: 1A –39 Harvey Avenue, Netley
  • Thursday 22 January: 310 - 286 Marion Road, Netley

Our powerline crews will return between Monday 9 February and Friday 13 February 2026 to replace our overhead powerlines. Our work is planned between the following locations:

  • Monday 9 February: 350 - 330B Marion Road, Netley
  • Tuesday 10 February: 292 Marion Road and 39 Harvey Avenue, Netley
  • Wednesday 11 February: 99 Beare Avenue and 10 Transport Avenue, Netley

  • Friday 13 February: 10 Transport Avenue, Netley and 1A Morley Street, West Richmond

Our work will be completed at night between 8pm and 5am.

Customers connected to our existing overhead powerlines will be connected to our new overhead network between Monday 19 January and Friday 23 January 2026. Our contractor A & W Electric will contact customers directly if we need to change their connection and make appropriate arrangements for access and timing, which may include access to properties between 8pm and 5am. There is no charge to customers for this work.

Tron Civil Contracting will return between Friday 23 January and Friday 30 January to complete civil reinstatements. This work will be completed between 8am and 3pm.

Traffic management

Traffic management will be in place while our crews are working. Temporary speed limits, lane closures, partial road closures, and possible detours will be in place for the safety of workers, road users and pedestrians. We will minimise disruption as much as possible and appreciate the continued patience and support of our local community and visitors affected by this work.

Power outages

We will notify customers in advance of any power outages that may affect them in early 2026.

We encourage anyone not already subscribed to sign up for updates using the National Meter Identifier (NMI) found on your electricity bill.

Subscribing is a helpful way to receive updates related to planned and unplanned power outages, as well as other disruptions such as night works or noise.
