What we’re doing

We will be installing a new 66,000 Volt subtransmisson powerline and new substation to support Department for Infrastructure and Transport’s (DIT) Torrens to Darlington (T2D) project. The new substation will be located at 6-9 Deacon Avenue, and we aim to complete this work by May 2026.

How this affects you

Civil works will start at the new substation site on Thursday 9 October. From Friday 10 October, civil teams will begin pole foundation work starting on Milner Road, continuing along Holder Avenue, progressing down Kingston Road, then on to Deacon Avenue, and Richmond Road, and then concluding on Moss Ave.

This stage of the project will be carried out during daylight hours, wherever possible with night work only undertaken if absolutely necessary. We expect it will take approximately five to six weeks to prepare the 25 pole footings. Safety fencing will be installed around the work areas.

Traffic management measures will be in place when required, including temporary speed limits, lane closures, partial road closures, and possible detours. There will be typical construction impacts such as noise, heavy vehicles, vibration, flashing lights, and dust. Our teams will work closely with affected residents and businesses to minimise disruptions.

The next stage of work will commence in mid-November and continue through to April 2026, starting with pole installations followed by overhead powerline work. This stage will involve nightwork to minimise traffic disruptions. We will update our website as the work progresses.

Please note that work dates and hours may vary due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances beyond our control.
