Ring-fencing

Ring-fencing refers to the separation of regulated services from the provision of contestable services, providing a level playing field for third party providers in new and existing markets for contestable services.

The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) requires us to protect ring-fenced information. If we share this information with our affiliate, we must make the same information available to third party providers offering Contestable Electricity Services on an equal basis.

Our Ring-fencing Information Sharing Protocol provides details about how and when we will share ring-fenced information with third party providers. Note that depending on the complexity and format of information requirements, a fee could be applicable.

We will assess all requests for information on an equal basis and in a timely manner. If your request complies with the AER Ring-fencing Guideline, we will place your request on our Ring-fencing Information Sharing Register.

We will provide an explanation if we deny your request.
