Catastrophic fire conditions forecast for Wednesday 20 November
Community safety
Catastrophic fire conditions have been forecast for Wednesday in the following fire ban districts: West Coast, East Eyre, Lower Eyre, Mid North, Yorke Peninsula, Kangaroo Island and Mt Lofty Ranges
Extreme fire risk has also been forecast for: Lower South East and Flinders
With the CFS preparing for catastrophic fire conditions, extreme heat and high winds in many areas of the State we are on high alert for Wednesday. Given the expected conditions and heightened risk you should make sure that in your planning for the day, you are prepared for the possibility of a power outage.
We have a team that continuously monitors weather and CFS incidents on high risk days. High winds can cause branches and other items to blow onto our network which could cause fires on extreme and catastrophic days. As such, it is possible we will need to disconnect power to some areas as a precaution to protect community safety.
When conditions ease, we begin power restoration when safe to do so. In some cases physical patrols of the powerlines will be necessary.
