Heatwave update: Planned works may be rescheduled due to extreme heat
With extreme heat forecast across South Australia this week, we are reviewing all planned outages to reduce impacts on customers during hot weather.
As the weather forecasts can change, we assess planned outages closer to the scheduled day of works, particularly when very hot temperatures are expected.
SA Power Networks encourages all customers to sign up for free outage notifications via our website, so they can stay informed about planned works and any changes due to weather.
How we manage outages during extreme heat
The safety of our community and crews is our top priority. To ensure you have power during the hottest part of the day, we follow these guidelines:
- 37°C threshold: Non-critical works are postponed if we are not confident that power can be restored before the local temperature hits 37°C.
- Critical works: Essential safety repairs may still proceed. We aim to do these without interrupting supply or by keeping interruptions very short.
- Stay informed: If you are signed up to receive updates, we’ll notify you of any schedule changes via SMS or email.
Customers affected by rescheduled works will be notified by SMS or email where they are subscribed to outage updates.
