SA Power Networks has recognised the achievements of its apprentices at the 2026 Apprentice Awards, celebrating individuals who have demonstrated excellence in safety, technical capability, teamwork and leadership.

The annual awards recognise apprentices who have excelled throughout their apprenticeship and acknowledge the important role they play in helping deliver safe and reliable electricity to South Australians. 

The highest honour of the evening, the Playford Medal, was awarded to Connor, a Trade Skill Worker, in Powerline based at our Marleston South depot. 

Selected from six finalists, Connor was recognised for his performance throughout their apprenticeship, commitment to learning and positive contribution to his team. 

Alongside the Playford Medal, awards were presented to apprentices across each year of the program, recognising those who have distinguished themselves through their performance, development and contribution to the business. 

2026 Apprentice Award winners 

Apprentice of the Year and Playford Medal Winner – Connor 

Connor is a highly respected fourth-year Powerline apprentice, recognised for his safety leadership, humility and commitment to supporting others. As Depot Health and Safety Representative and lead voice for the CBD apprentice team, he has driven practical safety initiatives, represented his peers and helped build team capability through specialist 66kV maintenance support. Connor also gives back to the community through fundraising and youth mentoring, making him a deserving recipient of this award. 

Third Year Winner – Jessica  

Jessica is recognised for her technical capability, safety leadership and positive attitude. She has achieved her Low Voltage Switching and Distribution Licence, continues to build complex switching experience, and supports safety as the CBD Depot’s Deputy Health and Safety Representative. 

Second Year Winner – Tyson  

Based at Barmera, Tyson is recognised for his strong safety leadership, high standards and support for others. His previous GSW experience, thoughtful approach to learning and willingness to share knowledge have made a positive contribution to his team and apprenticeship. 

First Year Winner – Zeb  

Zeb has made an outstanding impact in his first year through his strong safety focus, initiative and commitment to learning. He is valued for his professional support of colleagues and customers and demonstrated exceptional care when providing first aid to a member of the public at a work event. 


The evening also celebrated apprentices who are working through their apprenticeship, or who have graduated from the program. 

Many of this year's award recipients and graduates will go on to play an important role in maintaining and developing the network that serves more than 1.7 million South Australians.
