Frome Street to Grenfell Street, Adelaide CBD

September – October 2024

What we are doing

Power supply from the East Terrace substation is being upgraded to reinforce the local electricity distribution network.

The project is being delivered in two stages, each involving civil excavation and electrical upgrades, stage one is now complete.

Civil works will involve the installation of new 33kV cables in the roadway of Frome Street between Pirie Street and Grenfell Street, as shown in the map below.

How this affects you

Stage 2 construction activities will be carried out during the day, between 6am and 5pm, starting on Monday, 23 September 2024 until Friday, 11 October 2024. These works are scheduled to occur Monday to Friday.

Work hours and project dates may vary slightly due to weather, or other events outside of our control.

These works will commence at the intersection of Frome Street and Pirie Street and will progressively work towards the intersection of Frome Street and Grenfell Street.

Traffic management including lane closures will be in place around our worksite, with detours in place. Access to businesses and residences will be maintained throughout our activities. Residents and businesses directly adjacent to our worksite will be contacted in advance to discuss any concerns or requirements.

Speed and parking restrictions will be in place in the vicinity of the works to ensure safety for community members and our work crews.

Power outages

We don’t expect any power interruptions during these works; however, we encourage anyone with a National Meter Identifier (NMI) on their electricity bill to subscribe for free notification of power outages and future events. Please call us on 13 12 61 if you need help with this process.

Construction impacts

There will be noise, vibration and dust associated with these works from excavation equipment and other heavy machinery and vehicles. Our crews will minimise impacts as much as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation during this essential work.

Frome Street - between Pirie Street and Grenfell Street

• From mid-September 2024
• Day works traffic impacts late September 2024:
  • Frome Street closed to traffic detour via Hutt Street/ East Terrace or Pulteney Street.

Pirie Street and Frome Street Intersection

• From Monday 23 September 2024.
• Day works traffic impacts September 2024
  • Lane and speed restrictions
  • Detour via Flinders Street.

Frome Street & Grenfell Street Intersection

• From early October 2024
• Day and night works early October 2024:
  • Day works - speed and lane restrictions
  • No right turn from Frome Road to Grenfell Street and no right turn from Union Street to Grenfell Street.
