Notification of works
Project update 19 March 2025
Our work has been delayed and civil work will now start Monday 24 March.
We will start replacing the cable after Easter and expect this work to be completed by the end of June 2025.
Bounty Road, Hallett Cove underground network upgrade
Background
The underground cables that supply power in this area were initially installed in the 1980s using standard techniques of the day that are no longer in use. These techniques can, in some circumstances, contribute to cable degradation over time.
What we’re doing
We will replace the low- and high- voltage underground cable between 2-24 Bounty Road, plus a small section in Endeavour Road and Moonta Street, which we expect will improve power reliability in your area. See map below.
Civil work starts in January 2025 which includes trenching along the roadside, with cable replacement to be completed by the end of March 2025.
Map of works area
The properties where we need access to the service pits are marked in yellow; we will need to trench to these pits which may involve removing trees and shrubbery located on the Council verge. The orange line indicates where we will excavate. If our trenching affects your garden or property, we will reinstate as close as possible while maintaining regulated access to the service in future. Works impacting council land will be reinstated to their standard.

How this affects you
We will need to access service pits on some properties. A service pit is a small underground enclosure that connects consumer electrical services to the low voltage distribution network. These pits are generally located on the boundary between properties with one or more properties supplied from the pit. While access to the pit should never be obstructed, many have been buried under gardens.
We may need to trench short areas on a property to access the pit which may include removing trees and shrubbery located on the Council verge and we will notify customers directly if this affects them.
We will also let you know when we need your help to keep the roadside clear of vehicles, so we have clear access for our work, and to avoid potential damage to your vehicles. We will use road plates so you can continue to access your driveway. When our team is working, we will have traffic and parking control in place for the safety of pedestrians, road users and our crews.
Power outages
Some customers may experience up to three power outages during this work generally for between one and four hours. We will send SMS/emails to subscribed customers, typically two weeks before any planned power outage that affects them, and post a card to customers without a subscription, noting there can be delays in the postal service.
If you do not already receive free SMS/email updates about your power, you can sign up for updates, or call us on 13 13 66 for assistance. You need the National Meter Identifier (NMI) from your electricity bill to subscribe.
Construction impacts
There will be noise, vibration and possibly dust associated with this work from excavation equipment, and other heavy machinery and vehicles. Our crews and contractors will minimise impacts as much as possible, however we apologise for any inconvenience.
