Notification of works

Foggo Road traffic changes

McLaren Flat May - July 2024

What we’re doing

We are about to begin an upgrade outside our substation at 234 Foggo Road, McLaren Flat. This work is part of a 13km upgrade of the overhead 66,000 Volt  powerline from Morphett Vale East to Willunga starting in July.

The work scheduled for May and July near our substation involves replacing two existing poles and installing a new one in between.

The project will increase the powerline's capacity to meet the increasing power demand in the region while ensuring a reliable and flexible power supply.

How this affects you

Civil work and road impact:

From 20 to 31 May civil work will be undertaken to create new stobie pole footings. While the road will not be completely blocked during this period, one lane on Foggo Road between Chalk Hill Road and Kangarilla Road will be temporarily closed for safety around our work site between 7am and 5pm.

Expect stop and go traffic management during this period.

Clear signs will guide pedestrians and drivers safely around the work zone.

Reduced speed and traffic management measures will be in place while our crews are on-site until we complete the installation of the new poles in July.

Bike lane opposite our substation: the bike lane around our work site will be temporarily closed for safety while we are working in this area. A Stobie pole will be installed in the current bike path as there is no other technically feasible location, and the bike lane will be slightly redirected once reopened.

Construction work and road impact:
In July we may need to close Foggo Road between Chalk Hill Road and Kangarilla Road completely between 7am and 5pm for the three pole installations.

During this construction period, a detour will be in place with clear signs to guide drivers. Traffic management will be in place. Pedestrian access will remain available throughout all work.

Project timelines can change due to unforeseen events.
