Robe powerline relocation and reliability improvement

Old Naracoorte Road

February - March 2025

What we’re doing

We're relocating a small section of the Hatherleigh-Robe 33,000 Volt (33kV) powerline on the outskirts of Robe southwest of Woakwine Conservation Park for around 1km along Old Naracoorte Road. We will remove five Stobie poles located off-road in a swampy area along with the wires connected to the poles. We have been in discussion with the property owners for access.

The Stobie poles are affected by ground-level corrosion which we have temporarily resolved with pole plating and extra footing support, however it is difficult for us to access the poles or check for faults in wet conditions.

We will be installing eight new Stobie poles closer to the road. The project will improve power reliability to Robe and surrounds.

How this affects you

We begin civil work Monday 17 February 2025 until 13 March. Traffic safety management will be in effect overnight Wednesday 2 April 2025 from 9pm to 6am along Old Naracoorte Road for the safety of crews working closer to the road.

Power outages

Customers from Hatherleigh to Boatswain Point (excluding Beachport) will experience one power outage overnight between 10pm Wednesday 2 April 2025 until 6am Thursday. We have scheduled this outside school holidays and at night to minimise total community impacts.

We will send SMS/emails to subscribed customers affected by the power outage two weeks in advance, at which time the outage map will also be published on our website. We post cards to non-subscribed customers however there may be delays with the postal service.

If you do not already receive free notifications about your power, you can sign up to receive free notifications via our website or call us on 13 12 61 for assistance. You need the National Meter Identifier (NMI) from your electricity bill to subscribe.

Construction impacts

We will manage noise and dust throughout the work however we expect minimal impacts to customers and road users as the work is mainly off-road in paddocks. We have consulted the landowners with respect to the relocation of poles on their property.
