SA Power Networks Reflects and Connects During National Reconciliation Week 2025

National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a vital time for all Australians to deepen our understanding of our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to actively explore our individual and collective roles in building a reconciled Australia.
At SA Power Networks, we are committed to acknowledging the unique and important status of First Nations Peoples in our country's history and recognising the multiple Traditional Owners of the lands across our network. This year's NRW theme, "Bridging Now to Next," invites us to reflect on our shared history and move towards a better future. We were proud to mark this significant week with a series of events designed to foster learning, reflection, and connection within our organisation and the wider South Australian community.

Kicking off the week, members of our team attended the impactful National Reconciliation Week breakfast held at the Adelaide Convention Centre. This public event brought together leaders and community members to share insights and perspectives on the journey towards reconciliation. Our representatives gained valuable learnings from the speakers and the broader community dialogue, which will continue to inform our own Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) journey.
Internal staff breakfast

To ensure our commitment to reconciliation resonates deeply within our own walls, we hosted an internal breakfast specifically for SA Power Networks staff. This dedicated gathering provided a valuable opportunity for our employees to come together, engage in meaningful discussions, and reflect on the importance of reconciliation in our everyday work and lives. It was a moment for shared learning and strengthening our collective understanding of our role in building a more inclusive future.

A significant highlight of our NRW commemorations was the "Tiati Wangkanthi Kumangka (Truth-Telling Together)" session for our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) working group. This special event provided a safe and insightful space for employees to engage in truth-telling, a critical component of the reconciliation process.
These sessions foster deeper understanding, empathy, and respect by acknowledging historical truths and their ongoing impacts. It was an invaluable opportunity for our team to listen, learn, and contribute to a shared commitment to a reconciled future.

As a major sponsor, SA Power Networks was once again proud to support the prestigious Lowitja O'Donoghue Oration. This annual event honours the extraordinary legacy of Dr. Lowitja O’Donoghue AC CBE DSG, an influential Aboriginal leader. Our sponsorship contributes to making this significant forum accessible, allowing a broader audience, including students, to hear from prominent speakers on critical reconciliation topics. Supporting this oration aligns with our commitment to fostering education and dialogue essential for advancing reconciliation across South Australia.
Our Ongoing Commitment to Reconciliation
National Reconciliation Week provides a crucial annual focus, but our dedication to reconciliation extends far beyond these seven days. Every activity, every conversation, and every partnership contributes to our ongoing journey. We all have a vital role to play in building respectful relationships and creating communities that truly value First Nations Peoples, their rich histories, diverse cultures, and bright futures.
