Kelvin Trimper Customer Advocacy Scholarship

Kelvin Trimper 2026 Scholarship 608 x 406

SA Power Networks, in partnership with Energy Consumers Australia, is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the Kelvin Trimper Consumer Advocacy Scholarship for 2026.

Now in its second year, the scholarship honours the legacy of Kelvin Trimper AM — a respected urban development leader, horticulturist, and passionate advocate for energy consumers. Kelvin’s work as Deputy Chair of the SA Power Networks Community Advisory Board helped ensure communities had a voice in shaping South Australia’s energy future.

The Scholarship

  • Funding of up to $10,000 is available.
  • Open to individuals or organisations.
  • Supports research, training, or initiatives that improve consumer outcomes in a dynamic and changing energy market.

Impact so far

Last year’s inaugural recipient, energy scorecard assessor Alex Fry, used the scholarship to show how a standard rental property in Brompton, an inner city suburb of Adelaide, could be transformed into a 10-star energy-rated home. Through targeted upgrades, the house became more affordable to run and more comfortable to live in — proving what’s possible when innovation meets advocacy.

Alex’s project is just one example of how the scholarship is already helping advocates create a fairer, more sustainable energy future.
