Port Elliot reliability works - project update
We're excited to share some positive news from the frontlines of our upgrade project in Port Elliot.
We've been working to improve the reliability of our network in this area, following a series of power outages. Our solution? A comprehensive project to replace the ageing ceramic insulators on approximately 150 high voltage poles along the coastal fringe of the Port Elliot township. These old insulators have a tendency to crack over time due to corrosion, leading to outages. We're turning that around by installing silicon insulators, which have superior resistance to tracking and greater flexibility. This means less corrosion, less cracking, and ultimately, fewer power outages - a big win for everyone!
We're currently about a third of the way through this changeover, with plans to continue our work up to the holiday season and wrap things up in the new year once the holiday rush has settled. We're confident that these upgrades will significantly improve the reliability of the network in Port Elliot, and we're excited to see the positive impact this will have for our customers in the area.
We invite you to take a look at some of the photos below, captured from our Port Elliot pole top rebuild project over the last few months.
