Public lighting upgrades in Prospect – Stage 1
Tuesday 30 June 2026
What we’re doing
We’re working with the City of Prospect Council to upgrade 280 High-Intensity Discharge (HID) lights to Light Emitting Diode (LED) lights. LED lights represent a modern, energy-efficient lighting solution that combines durability, low energy consumption, and versatility. Our works will also include upgrading existing brackets where required to assist with the removal of lights from tree canopies and increase better luminating of the roadways.
How this affects you
Our contractor Electel will be commencing work in July 2026, and we expect this work to be completed by the end of August 2026. Most of our work will be completed between Monday to Friday 8am to 3pm, with the possibility of night works if required along main roads.
The new lights and brackets will be installed where required in the following areas:

Traffic management
Temporary speed limits, partial closures and detours will be in place at times to keep road users and workers safe. Our traffic team is available on site to assist if needed.
Our contractor may set up some traffic management the night prior to their works to minimise traffic impacts and support road users for the following day.
Thank you
We will work to minimise impacts wherever possible as we complete our work for the community. Please note that work hours and timing may change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.
