Hardwicke Bay Progress Association, one of our 2023 Community Grant recipients, recently upgraded their community hall's solar system, with the aim to be more sustainable and save money that can be reinvested into the community.

Nestled in the heart of Hardwicke Bay, a charming community with a modest population of only 200 permanent residents, the Hardwicke Bay Progress Association plays a crucial role as the community's representative body. The association provides community services that contribute to bringing people together and improving town facilities. They have undertaken various initiatives including providing amenities like BBQs, a playground, a beach look-out, and a community hall.

Ashley Gordon, the President of the association, expressed gratitude for the support of the Community Grants program, saying, “We’re so grateful for the grant SA Power Networks have provided to us. The new solar panels are making a huge difference, enabling us to be significantly more energy self-sufficient. This allows us to invest more of the money raised on projects to assist the community rather than spending it on power bills.”
