Power to kerb available for 97% of River Murray customers

Media Release

SA Power Networks has now re-energised the vast majority of the electricity network supplying communities along the River Murray. The balance remains inaccessible due to flooding or road damage.

“This means that power is available at the kerb for more than 97% customers should they be ready to reconnect their property,” said Paul Roberts, Head of Corporate Affairs.

“As of 19th April, about 1,520 customers have been reconnected to supply, and power is available at the kerb for a further 1,750 customers who were disconnected due to rising floodwaters.”

It is recommended customers engage a licensed electrician to confirm their property is electrically safe and then request reconnection through their retailer.

“On average, reconnections are being completed about two days after the retailer issues the request to SA Power Networks,” Mr Roberts said.

“While we are receiving requests for reconnection at a steady rate, reconnection of many properties is likely to take some time given the amount of damage and repairs and/or rebuilding required before electricity supply can be reconnected for each individual customer.”
